A New Air Mattress Is Like Sleeping On A Cloud
When you think of an air mattress, chances are you think of camping or sleeping on the floor at a relative's house. It was always hit and miss as to if they would even be inflated by the time morning rolled around. That's not the case anymore. A modern air mattress provides a comfortable alternative to the standard inner spring mattress.
Let's face it, you really don't want to offer your home's special guest a mattress that resembles a pool toy. Today's aerobed mattresses will offer your guest a comfortable sleep on a cushion of air. You can get an air mattress that stands 24 inches off the floor. No longer are you relegated to a simple one or two inches of mattress. And higher inflatable beds are super for anyone with mobility problems or those that might have a tough time getting up from the floor.
An aerobed mattress still offers the convenience of needing little storage space when deflated, but they also offer some great amenities. Some come with a built in pump system that will inflate in just a few minutes. No longer do you have to sit around and wait as Dad turns blue from blowing up the mattress. And most of the time a new, more modern air mattress is covered with a soft flocked top to get rid of that plastic feel beneath the sheet. If you go really high end, some air mattresses will include a layer of tempur memory foam on top of the air chamber giving a truly luxurious feel.
A modern air mattress is now so comfortable, that it will frequently find it's way out of the hall closet and into your master bedroom. Manufacturers catch on quickly, and their response has been to produce complete air-filled sleep systems. These mattresses have the look of a standard mattress but have a different inner mechanism. The steel coils for support are replaced by air filled pockets that are surrounded by stabilizing foam. These allow the mattress to cradle the body. And the air pockets and allow the mattress to fit the needs of the sleeper by inflating or deflating to change the firmness.
Also, layers of foam and padding will cover the air pockets to further cushion your body. And of course some models will include a layer of tempur material or memory foam. All work together to provide the softness that most desire with the right amount of support chosen by the sleeper.
As an additional benefit, many air filled mattresses are manufactured with two separate air chambers. These naturally can be inflated to different levels, providing a different firmness on each side of the bed. Two sleepers now can have a customized support system that conforms to the different body sizes and shapes. Most couples do not like the same firmness. Choosing the comfort levels takes away any disagreement and compromise when buying a mattress.
Clearly the modern aerobed mattress is much different than those that came before it. The days of using an air mattress strictly for campers and children are gone. The new air mattress has evolved into a good choice for anyone wanting supportive and comfortable nights of sleep.
