The Sleep Leaders Have Been Making Mattresses For Over A Century
Countless companies have made mattresses over the years. Only two have stood the ultimate test of time, making sleep systems for over 100 years. Simmons and Sealy were around before you were born, and will likely still be around after you are gone. If you are in the market for a mattress, you should defiantly check them out.
Simmons
Try to find someone who hasn't heard of the Simmons Beautyrest system. It is truly one of the most widely known brand names in the USA. The Simmons Company was founded in 1870. and it wasn't long before it was a leader in the bedding industry. Technology and research push company leaders to place increasing demands on each mattress they design. In the 1920's, Simomns became a household name and received endorsements from people like Henry Ford, H. G. Wells, Thomas Edison and even Eleanor Roosevelt. In the 40's they added glamorous stars like Dorothy Lamour and Maureen O'Hara to their stable of spokespeople.
Simmons takes great pride on continually offering more choices to their customers. They led the way in offering more sizes. They were the first to offer queen and king size mattresses in 1958. Even as recently as 2001 they led the way again by coming out with the Olympic queen size bed, a bed that offers 10% more sleeping area yet still fits on a standard queen size frame.
You can pretty much find a mattress at by Simmons that will fit every need. They even produce high quality crib mattresses and mattresses designed specifically for children. You can find the Beautyrest mattress in four levels of quality. They are the Classic, the World Class, The Exceptionale, and the World Class Exceptionale.
And Simmons produces more than simply innerspring sleep sets. You can now find a memory foam product called the Beautyrest Caresse, and air filled system called the Lux Aire, and even a soft sided waterbed called the Natural Spring.
Sealy
Sealy gets its name from the town in which it was founded. In Sealy, Texas, Daniel Haynes started making and selling mattresses to his friends and neighbors in 1881. Word spread quickly, and the mattresses became so popular that soon orders were coming from outside the city. They were simply called "The Mattress from Sealy." Unable to handle the demand, Haynes sold his knowledge and ideas to other manufacturers so they could create the product but keep the name. Haynes finally sold the business to a company in 1906. They kept the name Sealy.
The now famous Sealy Posturpedic was introduced in 1950. This mattress became among the best known mattresses in history and it is still being sold today. The secret is a patented coil made from a heavy gauge steel. It is double heat tempered to help keep its shape. Sealy also offers the True Form or Memory foam sleep set as well as the Spring Free sleep set which features a latex foam core.
Basset and Stearns and Foster are also manufactured by Sealy, giving Sealy the largest share of the bedding market in North America.
Obviously you have many choices for a high quality mattress. But if a trusted name and consistent high standards are important to you, you can't go wrong with sticking to one of these two industry leaders.
